A September Summary

Updated: Jun 22

With last month marking a full year since our official launch - it seems fitting to look back over our second September in business as Revels In Hand and see how much we’ve achieved. It has been a wonderfully busy and exciting time - preparing us for the year ahead.

September 5th The penultimate show in our current Theatre In The Clouds season before we launch Christmas in the Clouds this month. We did our final performance of Bell, Book and Candle by John Van Druten and it was a ball - as all the shows up in the 39th floor signature suite of the hotel are! We had some of our original investors in as guests, so it was wonderful to raise a glass with them to the one year anniversary of the company after the show. To all extents and purposes this show was what we have come to call our CLASSIC offering at the hotel- a one hour long show done around cocktails and canapés to an intimate room of guests. It truly is an incredible way to enjoy theatre - especially with the view out over the city. Watch this space for announcements for #ChristmasInTheClouds.

Happy team before getting into costume

Backstage shenanigans at the Shangri-La Hotel

September 12th A new week and a new hotel. We were lucky enough to be invited to entertain some of the industry’s finest at the Bulgari Hotel private launch of their new bar Nolita Social. Inspired by the late night drinking speakeasies of New York this bar is truly stunning and well worth a visit. We were entertaining the party goers with a short extract from Noel Coward’s Private Lives. We used the curved backs of sofas as the outline for our two balconies and as he lights dimmed down, the actors dressed up in all their vintage finery guided the audience on a beautiful step back in time.

September 16th We were invited to Albert's in Beaufort House to do a short extract of one of our plays for a luxury travel conference day. We pitched private theatre to the attendees as the latest and most exciting addition to the luxury entertainment market and then did a short surprise extract on the plush sofas of the members club to demonstrate just how thrilling intimate theatre can be. We were also able to show off our new virtual reality recording that we made with the wonderful LIVR that allows us to demonstrate the quality and atmosphere of our private shows to potential clients. September 17th We took a small team out to the comforts of Soho Farmhouse to do another conference day; this time for our newest brand partners... who we can't quite reveal to you yet! Patience patience - press announcements coming soon. We did a small section of one of our pieces as a surprise for the global sales executives in order to give them a taste of what intimate theatre might feel like in the privacy of their own unique spaces. We are in the process of creating some really exciting offerings so watch this space.

September 24th Our fabulous partners at the Shangri-La Hotel chose us as their special treat to entertain their most loyal customers. We had a wonderful night hosting a select group of 20 for a private performance in the signature suite. An hour long romantic comedy interspersed with champagne and canapés.

September 25th Another fabulous night in the Shangri-La but this time a private romantic comedy for the top clientele at American Express as a pre-dinner surprise. A big part of our service is a meet and greet with the cast after the show and this was a particularly lively affair as we chatted all things Revels before they headed on to their dinner.

September 28th A private gig out in a residence in the countryside near Winchester. A couple had won us at a charity auction courtesy held by one of our favourite intimate theatres in London, The Orange Tree Theatre. We did a selection of scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream that we wove between courses and tables in a casual, cozy birthday dinner in a barn. With an audience of only twenty, we lulled them into dinner with Titania seducing Bottom, crashed into the excitement of main course with the four lovers fighting and sent them full of joy into their after-supper revels with a raucous version of Pyramus and Thisby. A truly memorable 70th birthday for the client and a fun filled evening for our cast. We are always overwhelmed by how quickly we are welcomed into the homes and hearts of our clients. It is part of what makes the service so special - the bespoke and intimate care we give to getting to know each person before, during and after the show itself.

Thank you to our incredible actors and creative teams, and bring on October - whatever it may hold!
